My Role as a Psychotherapist

Seeking support can feel overwhelming and anxiety-inducing. That’s why one of the most powerful aspects of therapy is the relationship we build together. When trust, honesty, and unconditional support are present, true healing and transformation can begin.

As a strengths-based clinician, I take a client-centered approach—tailoring therapy to your unique needs. I draw from evidence-based practices and work collaboratively with you, honoring your lived experience while offering tools, guidance, and encouragement along the way.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, or something you can’t yet name, my role is to help you reconnect with your strengths, clarify your path, and move toward the life you want to live. Together, we’ll create a safe space to process feelings, learn healthy coping strategies, and build lasting internal and external resources that support your well-being.

What Sets My Approach Apart From Others

My therapeutic style balances compassionate support with meaningful challenge. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can be seen and heard—but I also encourage self-reflection, help you confront limiting beliefs, and guide you in challenging distorted thinking patterns that may be holding you back.

Healing isn’t passive. Growth often comes from doing the hard, uncomfortable work. I’ll walk beside you with empathy and encouragement, while also holding you accountable to your goals. Together, we’ll explore what’s not working, build on your strengths, and create sustainable change aligned with the life you want to live.

My Background & Training

I have experience working with adolescents and adults in therapeutic high schools, partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs, as well as community mental health clinics. My background in care management, outreach, and supportive services has given me a deeper understanding of the real-life challenges people face.

My specialized training includes:

  • Comprehensive Clinical Training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • DBT with Substance Abuse specialization

  • Trauma Center/JRI’s Complexity of Adaptation to Trauma

  • Vicarious Trauma & Self-Care

  • ARC Treatment Framework (Attachment, Self-Regulation, & Competency)

  • EMDR training through the EMDR Institute

  • Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist (CCTSI) credential from the AZ Trauma Institute

  • NASW-NJ & AZ Clinical Social Work Supervision Certification Course

Before entering the mental health field, I worked in advertising, customer service, and sales. These experiences gave me firsthand insight into the pressures of balancing work, personal life, and identity. This perspective informs my work with clients navigating burnout, career transitions, and the challenge of reconnecting with themselves amid modern demands.

I’ve also supported individuals through the transformative journey of addiction recovery. Witnessing both the devastation of addiction and the resilience that emerges in recovery continues to inspire my practice every day.

Beyond the Therapy Room

Outside of my professional role, I’m a lifelong learner with a love for animals, diverse foods, music, nature, and outdoor adventures. I recharge by spending time with my husband, our two daughters, and our three beloved dogs.

In my practice, I bring a grounded mix of humility, compassion, and just enough humor to remind you that therapy doesn’t have to feel heavy all the time. I’m passionate about helping people embrace who they are while encouraging them to step boldly into who they’re becoming. Healing, in my view, happens through connection, authenticity, and compassion—and I’m honored to walk alongside the individuals I serve on their journey.

"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style". Maya Angelou
